Operation «Fortaleza 266» seizes almost one ton of drug on the coast of Esmeraldas

The National Police of Ecuador and the National Antinarcotics Directorate, through the Unit for Combating Organized Crime (ULCO), executed this Monday, December 18, 2017, around 5:00 pm, in Esmeraldas, the operation «Fortaleza 266 «, which allowed the seizure of about a ton of cocaine, directed at the international drug traffic.

After several months of investigative work, in collaboration with the International Anti-Narcotics Network (RIAN) and police units in Colombia, the location of a boat that was transporting narcotic substances between the cantons of Same and Tonchigue in Esmeraldas was determined.

With the support of the Coast Guard of Ecuador and the Aeronaval Helicopter, which made overflights through the site, it was possible to locate a boat and its crew, who, noting the police presence fled to the coast, entering the vegetation of Puntilla de Galeras.

An interdiction was made of a flipper-type boat, with three Yamaha 75 hp engines, which transported 61 packages (black jute bags), which contained 20 packages with 1,400,620 grams of cocaine.

Fuel: – 49 Pomas (245 gallons of gasoline).
